O
Brother Where Art Thou - Character Development (page 2)Ulysses
is one of the few characters in the entire movie, including the Governor, who
actually spoke with correct English. This put him on an invisible pedestal, and
gave his ideas and opinions a little more weight. When a grizzled, old man in
a shop told Ulysses that it would take two weeks for his hair gel and the parts
for his car, he retorted, "This place is a geographical oddity, two weeks
from everywhere." The audience gets to know the main characters through
their different styles of conversation, and by the end have grown extremely fond
of Ulysses's devilish wit, and Delmar's boyish charm. Contact
