Behind Succesful Soundtracks (page 2)
As
the audience watched the ax slowly get closer to his neck, he saw his deceased
wife walking through the crowd as cathartic music fills their ears. The music
paralleled the visuals perfectly, and we knew exactly how he felt. The music added
another dimension to the film that visuals alone could never have accomplished.
The music behind a scene must represent more than just musical codes, it must
help bring the viewer into the film's world. For
a soundtrack to be superb, it must add another dimension to the film. It must
in someway be intricately linked to the film, and be admired for more than its
musical codes. An excellent example of a soundtrack truly adding another dimension
to a film is Run Lola Run by Tom Tykwer. Contact
