Cradle
Will Rock Soundtrack (Page 4)
The
camera surveys the scene once again and when it returns he is again composing
on an 'air piano'. This is a mix of both fidelity and space at once because the
last thing the audience is expecting to see is a real piano, while at the same
time, the music goes from clearly in his head to a point in which the audience
isn't quite sure where it is coming from and then back. The mix is executed to
perfection, and provides for the most memorable scene of the film. The use of
music in Cradle Will Rock helps back a main point of Bordwell and Thompson, "that
filmmakers often use sound quite unrealisticly, in order to shift our attention
to what is narratively or visually important". Contact
