The complimentary principal also seemed to be guiding the women in their pre-meeting conversations. In the thirty minutes of discussions before the meeting got underway, not one negative comment could be heard. Regardless of what one woman said, her counter-part instinctively responded in a positive, upbeat manner. One woman remarked that she just couldn't stop eating since the terrible terrorist attacks on the World Trace Center, and her friend replied that she shouldn't be worried because things would be back to normal before she knew it. This complimentary principal extended into the meeting as well. Several times during the meeting, a woman would say something negative about herself or her progress, and the instructor would always come back with an optimistic retort.


Overall, the women were able to communicate with each other extremely well in a one-on-one setting, but when the group got together as a whole most of them fell victim to situational anxiety.
